Maserati Supercar Makes Local Debut

.

By Nick Syn

LOCAL MASERATI DISTRIBUTOR, Hong Seh Motors, recently held a preview of the Italian manufacturer’s MC12 supercar on the 8th of July.

Organised in conjunction with the launch of Audemars Piguet’s Maserati Millenary collection of limited edition watches, the event, held at Sentosa Cove, included a cocktail reception as well as a posh yacht cruise round the island for invited guests.

The MC12 is a limited edition, carbon-fibre bodied, 330km/h supercar. Powered by a mid-engined V12 developing 630bhp, the MC12 dispatches the 0-100km/h sprint in an appropriately supercar-like 3.8 seconds. Comparisons to the Ferrari Enzo are inevitable but the Maserati was designed to allow customers to actually go racing in it mind.

Unfortunately, however, (if you’ve already got your chequebook open) the production run for the MC12 comprises only 50 cars and all have already been spoken for.

That said, Hong Seh Motors has managed to score one of those units, though. If you’re really interested, the list price in Europe for the left-hand drive only MC12, at current exchange rates, works out to be in the region of a cool $1.6 million.
