Two-Door 407 Breaks Cover
Stylish new model keeps up Peugeot’s tradition of producing sexy large coupes
PEUGEOT HAS RECENTLY released official pictures of the new 407 Coupe. Set to make its public debut at this September’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the new coupe already looks to be a worthy successor aesthetically to the handsome old Pininfarina-designed 406 Coupe.
Peugeot is keeping more specific details close to its chest, but we know that the 407 Coupe was designed to be a spacious four-seater grand tourer and that two petrol engines will be available at launch.
These include a 2.2-litre 160bhp four-cylinder unit and a range-topping 3.0-litre 211bhp V6. Only the latter comes with an automatic gearbox, so it’ll likely be the one that makes it here.
The 407 Coupe also boasts double wishbone front suspension, a multi-arm rear setup and enhanced torsional rigidity to deliver a better drive.
According to local distributor Auto France, we can expect the 407 Coupe to hit showrooms in the seconds half of 2006, although exact specifications have yet to be decided.
