2005 Subaru Challenge
Popular win-a-car contest returns with a new tag team format
By Nick Syn
LAST YEAR, SUBARU distributor, Motor Image Enterprises, gave an Impreza WRX to the winner of the MediaCorp Radio Subaru Challenge. This year, the company’s giving away two Impreza 1.6 TS cars to one lucky couple.
Instead of the old one car, one winner idea, Subaru’s adopted a new tag team format. “Each year we change the format of the Subaru Palm Challenge to make it more exciting for participants and viewers. Subaru prides itself as unconventional and different, and we constantly set our events around this philosophy,” explains Glenn Tan, chief executive of Motor Image Enterprises.
This means that any team is only as strong as its weakest member, “we’re all excited to see what will happen this year as we elevate the challenge to the team level and see what the human spirit can do with a little encouragement every step of the way!”, says Bernard Lim, general manager of English programming at MediaCorp Radio.
Participants have to qualify for the challenge through a preliminary radio call-in round, followed by a lucky draw to determine the final 220 teams. The call-ins start on the 3rd of October and will last for four weeks. The lucky draw will take place just prior to the start of the challenge. Expect, therefore, to see 440 participants trying to keep their hands glued to 10 Subaru Imprezas come November 5th at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.
