TTS Eurocars Hosts Driving Tutorial

NUS students learn advanced driving techniques in a trio of Fiat cars

By Colin Yong

SENTOSA’S GATEWAY CARPARK was filled with the sound of screeching tyres during the last weekend of October as a group of NUS students pushed three Fiats to their limits. They were the participants in an advanced driving course organised by Fiat distributor TTS Eurocars and the National University of Singapore (NUS) Motoring Club.

Under the watchful eye of experienced advanced driving instructor Sean Khoo, the 20-odd students learnt how to cope with difficult situations on the road. Demonstrations were also done to show how the electronic traction control systems in modern cars aid drivers avoid trouble.

TTS Eurocars provided three cars – a Punto 1.2, a Punto HGT and a 15-year-old Tipo 1.6 – for the event. A mini-gymkhana, which required participants to put their new-found car control skills to the test was the highlight of the day.

All the participants ‘graduated’ from the course with flying colours. If only studying could be just as fun.
