New Harleys for 2006

.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF SINGAPORE has taken the wraps off four updated models for the Singapore market, with styling and technical tweaks to keep fans interested. In the case of the Dyna custom family, the bikes have been completely reworked for 2006.

“Expect new and meaty rear tyres, new custom paint schemes guaranteed to turn heads, engines that deliver more torque,” says Richard Park, the general manager of Harley-Davidson Singapore.

Harley-Davidson of Singapore will be hoping the new bikes prove enticing enough to accelerate sales. After rising sharply in 2004, Harley sales in Singapore have been relatively flat for this year. Figures from the Land Transport Authority show that up to the end of October, 91 units were registered here.

That’s a sale rate similar to 2004, when 108 Harleys were sold, an average of nine a month. As of the end of 2004, there were 842 Harley-Davidsons on the road here, accounting for about one in 10 bikes above 500cc.

Worldwide, Harley-Davidson is on a roll. On the back of record sales, the company looks set to hit its 20th straight year of record profits.
