One for sun-seekers

ROOF The electric top does its stuff in 22 seconds, and works at up to 50km/h

INTERIOR Plenty of legroom for adults back there, but shoulder room is pretty tight

BOOT Folding the soft top leaves space for two golf bags and a small suitcase



Local prices have yet to be set, but in other markets, a 125i Convertible costs about as much as a 320i. That translates to roughly $140,000 (with COE) in our money.

The final spec for our cars is, naturally, still up in the air, but all 1 Series Convertibles have sun-reflective seats that BMW says can reduce upholstery surface temperatures by as much as 20 degrees Celcius.

All Convertibles get four airbags (frontal and side), as well as a pop-up rollover protection system behind the rear headrests.
