Volkswagen Eos $154,000 with COE
The Golf GTI-powered Eos has plenty of turbo-boosted go, and under the folding top is a decently roomy, nicely-appointed cabin. However, that final bit of handling finesse makes the BMW the driver’s choice here.

Opel Asra TwinTop $123,888 with COE
A three-piece folding hardtop gives the Astra excellent packaging and allows it to retain elegant proportions, and seeing it in action is like watching a piece of engineering ballet. The Opel drives nicely, too, with a properly stiff body, making it great value.
