LOCAL SUBARU DISTRIBUTOR Motor Image Enterprises launched the new Impreza WRX STI at Turf City on 11th April for the media and invited guests.
Developed by Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the car is the flagship of the Subaru Impreza range and used the WRX model as its basis.
The Subaru World Rally Championship (WRC) car is in turn based on this model.
Widened body flares and a large rear spoiler are some of the exterior design features which mark out the Impreza WRX STI model.
It is powered by a 2.5-litre double overhead camshaft, turbocharged boxer engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
This engine produces 300bhp at 6,000rpm and 407Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, propelling the Impreza WRX STI to a top speed of 250km/h. 0-100km/h is achieved in 4.8 seconds.
New features on the car include the Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive) system first seen on the Legacy GT. This allows drivers to control car setting via a selection of driving modes which will alter the throttle response of the vehicle determining its overall performance.
It also comes with Driver’s Control Centre Differential (DCCD) which allows the driver to choose from different modes of control for the centre differential. Traction control is included as standard.
Braking for the car comes in the form of Brembo performance brakes systems.
The Impreza WRX STI is priced at $116,000 inclusive of COE.
