Formula DRIFT gets ready to burn rubber at the Changi Exhibition Centre
Full-day event promises to be high on entertainment value

THE FIRST FORMULA DRIFT event in Singapore is set to be held at the site of the Singapore Air Show on 27 April 2008. Originating from America, the day-long event will see drivers from around the region driving their specially tuned cars through marked courses where the one with the greatest showmanship and accuracy wins the day.
Rather than focusing on outright speed, Drifting competitions are all about car control and in this aspect probably can be thought of as a kind of car ballet. Singapore will be represented by drivers Colin Teo and Ivan Lim at the event.
The Formula DRIFT circuit is now into its fifth year of running in America, and has been brought to Singapore with the help of title sponsor and leading tyre distributor Binter & Co. General manager of Binter & Co Marcus Lim notes that besides being an exciting motorsports event, Formula DRIFT has the potential to deliver great family entertainment value in a controlled environment.
Tickets for the event can still be purchased from SISTIC outlets or by going to the website at www.sistic.com.sg. They are priced at $10 each for general walkabout tickets, and there are also $30 grandstand tickets available.
The event begins at 9.30am, and tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 each.
The official website for the event can be found at www.formuladrift.com.sg
