PUT THROUGH ITS PACES A4 driving experience is a major highlight of the car's launch activities

MARKETED AS THE most dynamic of Audi’s sedans, the latest A4 is offered with a choice of two engines, it can be purchased with either a 1.8-litre turbocharged TFSI four-cylinder unit producing 160bhp or a 3.2-litre FSI V6 unit producing 265bhp.

Larger overall than its predecessor while being lighter and more rigid, the extensive use of lightweight steel construction is the reason behind the car’s weight loss. It also has a low drag coefficient of 0.27.

The 1.8 TFSI will be mated to a continuously variable transmission while the 3.2 FSI will be equipped with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Two trim levels, namely Attraction and Ambition will be offered for the 1.8-litre TFSI.
The higher spec Ambition package will include an S-line exterior kit, sports seats, three-spoke leather trimmed multi-function sports steering wheel, adaptive lights and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The 3.2 FSI comes with Audi’s quattro four-wheel drive system, keyless entry, adaptive lighting, cornering light system, in-car navigation system, Xenon headlamps and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The local A4 launch kicks off with the brand’s first ever driving experience program which will be held at Changi Exhibition Centre from 7th to 15th May.

Around 1,000 potential Audi customers have already signed up for the event which will be conducted by Audi Driving Experience instructors from Germany. Participants will be able to put Ingolstadt’s latest BMW 3 Series and Mercedes Benz C Class competitor through it paces over a specially designed course.

Audi Singapore managing director Reinhold Carl has high hopes for the new A4.

“This is the most important model for the brand. Nearly 50 percent of Audi customers in Singapore are A4 buyers. The company is targeting sales of 1,100 cars this year and the A4 will form a major part of the driving force to meet this goal,” he said.

A4 1.8 TFSI Ambition: $149,900 with COE
A4 3.2 FSI: $188,000 with COE
