Global Latio sales top one million units

A milestone for Nissan’s compact sedan and hatch

By Justin Lee

NISSAN MOTOR CO. Ltd has recently announced that combined global sales of its Latio and Latio Sport have reached one million units in March 2008. This figure was achieved three and a half years after the model’s introduction.

The car is known as the Tiida in Japan and Versa in North America.

There are currently around 13,000 units on local roads which make up approximately 14% of the Latio and its many variants sold in Asia and Oceania.

In other news from Nissan, the company has announced global sales of its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) equipped vehicles topping the one million mark.

This has accomplished the target set under the Nissan Green Program 2010 mid-term environmental plan.

Nissan will use this program to introduce new technologies, products and services that can lead to reductions in vehicle CO2 emissions along with the production cleaner emissions, and recycling of resources.
