Californian sunshine

Ferrari California is the latest addition to the marque’s illustrious line-up of cars

By Justin Lee

THIS IS THE first official picture of Ferrari’s eagerly awaited new model.

Positioned as a grand tourer, the California will be available exclusively as a convertible with a folding hard top.

It will feature a newly developed direct injection 4.3-litre V8 engine mounted at the front. Producing 460bhp at 7,500rpm it propels the car from 0-100km/h in less than 4 seconds. Mated to this is a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The chassis and bodywork are made of aluminium which mirrors the rest of the Prancing Horse range.

The California is equipped with F1-Trac traction control system which made its debut on the 599 GTB Fiorano and a new multi-link rear suspension system. Stopping power comes from standard Brembo brakes featuring carbon-ceramic material discs.

A special dedicated website at www.ferraricalifornia.com will reveal bit by bit details and photographs on the California till its official unveiling to the public at the Paris International Car Show in October.

The car could possibly debut in Singapore by the end of the year.
