Porsche achieves excellent local sales

Redesign and upgrade of Porsche Centre is to meet increased sales and after-sales volume

By Justin Lee

STUTTGART AUTO, THE Porsche distributor for Singapore has announced an increase in sales figures for the brand.

The first quarter of 2008 sees Stuttgart Auto delivering 91 new Porsche vehicles which represents an increase of more than 44 percent compared to the first quarter in 2007. A total of 300 new Porsche cars were delivered by the company to customers last year.

Porsche Asia Pacific managing director Christer Ekberg says they are very pleased with Stuttgart Auto’s phenomenal success, dedication and commitment to delivering the true Porsche experience to customers in Singapore.

“We highly recommend that all potential customers in Singapore visit one of the two Porsche Centres in Singapore when considering the purchase of a new or pre-owned Porsche car. These centres are fully equipped Porsche Centres with factory-trained sales, service and parts staff that provides complete maintenance and repair works with full factory warranty in Singapore,” he said.

Stuttgart Auto executive chairman Karsono Kwee says plans are underway to refurbish and redesign the present Porsche Centre on Leng Kee Road.

“This involves an investment of more than S$20 million and is to facilitate substantially increased sales and after sales volume and the arrival of the new Panamera model line,” he said.

The new Porsche Centre Singapore is expected to be ready during the second half of 2009. Meanwhile, service and repair work is taking place in a temporary workshop on 23 Leng Kee Road as well as in the fully equipped Porsche Centre in Sungei Kadut.

The Panamera is a four-door coupe with its engine mounted in the front. This model when launched will most likely go head to head with the Maserati Quattroporte and Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

This news comes on the back of increased sales of Porsche vehicles brought in parallel importers (PIs). In 2007, PIs took slightly more than 10 percent of combined sales for the brand according to figures from the Land Transport Authority’s One Motoring website. However, the first four months of this year sees them taking around 36 percent of the total sales for Porsche vehicles sold in Singapore.
