Revised Porsche 911 released

Direct fuel injection and dual clutch gearbox debut as part of the updates to Porsche’s evergreen model

By Justin Lee

PORSCHE HAS JUST released pictures and details on the 911 range facelift. The four models namely two coupes and two cabriolets have all-new flat-six power units displacing 3.6 and 3.8-litres.

The German sports car brand has also taken this chance to introduce direct fuel injection along with the optional seven-speed dual clutch gearbox called the Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK).

The 3.6-litre 911 Carrera’s power is up by 20bhp to 345bhp. Output on the 911 Carrera S with its 3.8-litre unit is up by 30bhp to 385bhp. With this extra power, the Carrera S coupe now offers a top speed of slightly over 300 km/h.

Other new features include LED daytime driving lights and bi-xenon headlights which are now standard on all new models in the Carrera range. The rear benefits from new LED rear lights.

According to sources at Stuttgart Auto, the local Porsche distributor, the car is expected to go on sale by the end of the year. Prices have not been decided yet but could probably remain the same or be slightly higher than the outgoing car.
