Mid-sized saloon car has striking looks

CITROËN’S SINGAPORE DISTRIBUTOR Cycle and Carriage France is previewing a unit of the new second generation C5 at its roadshow which will be held at Suntec City, Entertainment Atrium from June 12 to 15. Opening hours for the event are from 11am to 10pm.
The car on show will be a 3.0-litre V6 model.
The C5 comes just a few months after its European debut. Based on a new platform, it promises to offer good cabin space for five and a large boot. Its interior boasts a higher level of build quality and luxury.
Its exterior design mixes cues from the C6 flagship sedan with a smooth sweeping profile. Large headlights and the now trademark double chevron grille dominate the front of the car while at the back LED tail lamps and concave rear window give it a striking appearance.
A key design feature is the concave rear window which echoes that on the C6. This piece of car design though great looking will mean that the C5 will no longer be offered in hatchback format.
Buyers have a choice of between two engines which are namely a 2.0-litre 16-valve unit and a 3.0-litre 24-valve V6. The former is carried over from the outgoing model and produces 143bhp at 6,000rpm. It is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox. The latter is same unit found in the flagship C6 sedan and produces 215bhp at 6,000rpm. Transmission comes in the form of a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Both versions will come with Citroën’s famed Hydractive III hydropneumatic suspension system which comes with two selectable settings comfort and sport.
The 2.0-litre C5 will be in the showroom and available for test drives around September or October when the car’s first shipment arrives. The 3.0-litre version can be test driven after the preview period.
Customer deliveries for both versions are expected to commence around the same time as when the C5’s first shipment arrives.
Prices for the C5 are as follows:
2.0-litre - $108,988 with COE
3.0-litre V6 - $136,988 with COE
