The Getz is spacious and well built with a surprisingly high level of refinement. It also looks good and drives amazingly well. However, it is getting on in years and its skimpy standard equipment and lack of comprehensive safety features work against it.

Suzuki Swift 1.3 (A) $50,900 with COE
Stylish inside and out, the Swift is solidly built and fun to drive. The 1.3-litre engine is a willing performer. Its equipment level is much better than the Aveo5 and is the car’s strongest competitor.
