Audi Q5 lands here in 2009

Sporty mid-size SUV contender set to rival BMW X3 and Land Rover Freelander 2

By Justin Lee

THE AUDI Q5 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) will be available in the second quarter of 2009 and comes with two variants – a 2.0 TSFI Quattro and 3.2 FSI quattro. Both engines will be coupled with a seven-speed double clutch gearbox.

The Q5 comes with Audi’s drive select system as standard which alters steering response and suspension settings.

Sporting looks which mimic those of the brand’s Q7 large SUV, the Q5 has a stylish exterior design and a highly versatile interior. The backrests for the rear seats are adjustable and can fold easily by using the remote release lever in the boot.

The car is 4630mm long, 1880mm wide and 1650mm high. It is longer than the BMW X3 by 61mm and wider by 27mm but is 24mm shorter in height.

Audi will offer three different options for the Q5’s external trimmings – standard black cladding, contrasting colour or full paint finish for the lower half of the car. There are also two trim levels available, an S line package and an off-road style package with underbody protection in the front and back and 19-inch wheels.
