THE AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION of Singapore’s (AA) Wheels-N-Reels event - an Amazing Race style treasure hunt on wheels which culminates in a drive-in movie screening - will take place on 23 August. To be held in conjunction with this will be the AA Club Rainbow Food Drive 2008, and vintage and classic car rides for Club Rainbow Beneficiaries.

Club Rainbow is a registered charitable organisation committed to helping children suffering from a range of chronic and life-threatening illnesses and their families and it is AA’s adopted charity for 2008 and 2009. It does not receive any funding and it is an independent charity that depends solely on public donations. There are currently more than 470 children and their families who are being supported by Club Rainbow.

The food drive hopes to garner support from participants to donate essential food items and day-to-day necessities like diapers, milk powder and canned food to Club Rainbow’s beneficiaries while the vintage and classic car rides is expected to bring cheer to them. For the latter, the AA has partnered with the Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register. The vintage and classic cars will be at the front of more than 100 participating cars to lead the AA’s Wheels-N-Reels Treasure Hunt flag-off at Kallang Car Park G.

AA president Bernard Tay says the Association is committed to supporting Club Rainbow.

“We will not only help this charity through fundraising and donation drives but also involve our staff in organising enjoyable family outings aimed at encouraging the beneficiaries and letting them know that there are people out there who care for them. Through these efforts, we seek to bring cheer to the needy, and motivate them to keep their hopes alive,” he says.
