Peugeot 308 1.6 Turbo (A)
July 24, 2008

Moving in the right direction

The 308’s interior feels tightly screwed together and the level of finish and quality is perhaps equal to that of any German car in its segment such as the Volkswagen Golf. Textured, soft touch plastics are used liberally throughout the cabin imparting an upmarket feel.

The dashboard is well laid out. The chrome accented circular air conditioning vents and anodised grey plastics on the centre console are a nice touch lifting the cabin’s sombre ambience. The only criticism to be had can be levelled at the rotary dials for the dual zone climate control system. These feel cheap and plasticky detracting from the general good impression imparted.

The cabin is rather airy up front aided by the dashboard which slopes away from the driver and passenger. Space at the back is adequate for average sized adults who will not find any reason to complain. Taller ones on the other hand may find their hair brushing against the head lining due to the roof tapering toward the rear of the car. The boot is of an even rectangular shape and a good size. It can easily swallow a week’s worth of grocery shopping and more.
