Renault Clio F1 Team R27 2.0
July 24, 2008

Not exactly Formula One, but close enough…

The centrepieces of the interior are the two slim-backed Recaro seats for the driver and front passenger. Together they apparently save 6kgs over the Clio 197’s kerbweight, and are very supportive. But high thigh supports on the seats bottoms do take some getting used to.

A line of red is stitched at the steering wheel’s 12 o’clock position to immediately let the driver know which way the wheel is pointing and there are drilled aluminium pedals in the footwell, but the rest of the car remains very much standard Clio fare.

There’s none of the currently in-vogue carbon fibre trim, fake or otherwise, anywhere in the cabin and the gray plastics give the interior a very subdued, moody feel. Backseat room is reasonably good however, thanks largely to the thin backrests on the front seats.
