KAHSHARE IS A new car sharing service offered by local Honda distributor Kah Motor.
This service takes over the recently concluded Intelligent Community Vehicle System (ICVS) which was initiated by Honda. Kah Motor says KahShare will be run as a form of community service and that charges will kept affordable.
The majority of the KahShare fleet will consist of the Civic Hybrid mid-size sedan. Also offered are the Jazz compact hatchback, Accord large sedan and Odyssey Multi Purpose Vehicle.
Kah Motor general manager Tan Kheng Hwee said that for Honda and Kah Motor, sustainability is important.
“We realise that especially in land scarce Singapore, it is impossible for the car population to grow indefinitely. Therefore, we would like to contribute to more efficient use of cars and parking spaces.
“Car sharing means that one car and one parking space can serve many more users
than just one person to one car now. Often, cars are parked all day in the CBD taking up the one precious parking space when that one car can be used in turn by different people going about their daily business, spreading the convenience to more people,” she said.
KahShare will kick off its membership recruitment drive at the 2008 Singapore Motorshow from 26 September 2008 to 5 October 2008. Members of the KahShare team will be present during the show’s opening hours to accept membership applications and to provide more details about the car sharing system.
The KahShare membership fees are as follows:
One time registration fee - $30.00
Yearly membership fee - $120.00
Refundable deposit - $100.00
