Shell does charity

The new Shell station at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 will be used as a platform to raise funds for the underprivileged elderly

By Justin Lee

SHELL AND 7-ELEVEN have come up with a series of activities in support of the Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) as part of the celebrations for the official opening of their new station at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

Some of the activities include a charity car wash, sale of handicrafts made by the elderly and the launch of a month long donation drive where a portion of all fuel sales at the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 station will be donated to AWWA Elderly Services.

The funds raised through these activities will be used in part to celebrate the Senior Citizens’ week for close to 200 elderly Singaporeans while the rest will be channelled to support AWWA Elderly Services’ initiatives which include a Community Home that offers sheltered housing, a Senior Activity Centre that provides an environment for the elderly to develop friendship and inter-dependence, and AWWA’s READYCARE Centre that provides rehabilitation and day care services for senior citizens suffering from physical dysfunction.

Shell Eastern Petroleum vice president of retail sales and operations for the East Eli Santiago said that Shell is pleased that this new station will serve as a platform for the Ang Mo Kio community to come together and support the AWWA Elderly Services.

“From today until 9 November this year, we commit to donating $0.03 per litre of all fuel sales at this station to AWWA,” he said.
