Perodua expands its lineup here with the Myvi
It is one of the most popular cars from across the causeway with sales there exceeding 250,000 units since it was launched in 2005

IT HAS BEEN a long time coming but the Perodua Myvi compact hatchback has finally made the trip across the causeway to go on sale here.
Launched in Malaysia in 2005, it is believed that its tardiness is due to the Malaysian car maker having licensing issues with parent company Daihatsu.
The Japanese small car specialist has a majority stake in Perodua and the Myvi is essentially a slightly reworked Sirion sharing many of its major mechanicals like the 87bhp 1.3-litre engine, five-speed manual and four-speed automatic gearboxes along with many exterior and interior bits.
It looks almost identical to the Daihatsu and is only differentiated by a revised bonnet, different front and rear bumpers, restyled headlamps and tail lamps (incorporating LEDs) and Perodua badges.
Equipment wise, it gets factory-fitted 14-inch alloy wheels, integrated audio unit with mp3, USB and Bluetooth capability, remote central locking with immobiliser and alarm, Optitron instrument panel back lighting and reverse sensors.
The Myvi is priced at $40,999 with COE for the manual and $42,999 with COE for the automatic.
