AUDI’S NEW Q5 is a pretty cool car – literally.
The new Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was premiered locally amongst boats and pleasure craft floating inside a 400 square metre iceberg-themed platform as part of the Boat Asia 2009 exhibition on April 23.
Inside the iceberg, moored off the Marina at Keppel Bay, the car is on display alongside multi-media configurator units so that visitors can experiment various colours and options to see how the car will look in virtual reality. Test drives of the new vehicle are also available on site.
German Ambassador Jorg Ranau was on hand to unveil the proceedings, which is open to members of the public from April 23 to May 3.
Two variants are available locally. The first is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with 211bhp, as found in the new Golf GTI. 350Nm of torque propels the car to 100km/h in 7.2 seconds.
Also available is a 3.2-litre V6, as seen in the A4 sedan, which gives 270bhp and reaches 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds.
Standard features on the car include Audi’s Multi-Media Interface, which integrates climate, entertainment and other functional controls into one, Audi Drive Select which changes vehicle settings between sport or comfort bias, xenon lights, 19-inch wheels, hill-hold assist, cruise control and leather sports seats.
The 3.2-litre variant gets extra 20-inch wheels, Milano leather, navigation and a Bang & Olufsen sound system amongst other things.
Both variants are on sale now with the 2.0 going for $167,400 and the 3.2 for $195,600, both including COE.
