The Z-Z fly

Lotus Elise S $169,800 with COE
The Lotus mates a 1-8-litre Toyota engine to a sub-ton chassis to deliver excellent handling, acceleration and even fuel consumption. It’s a hard combination to beat, but living with one of England’s finest cars is a bit hard: the interior and equipment list is bare as a baby’s bum and you need to be a contortionist to get in or out of it.

Honda S2000 $144,488 with COE
Two-seat Japanese performance rivals are thin on the ground, hence the presence of this roadster. Like the Elise, it takes a smaller engine and light weight to deliver its thrills and the excellent, rev-happy 2.0-litre VTEC unit from Honda doesn’t disappoint either. It’s a sign of the times that this car will soon be phased out, sadly.
