Ghost in the machine


Godzilla isn’t up to Maserati’s standard of trim just yet, but it makes do with a rather Spartan/high-tech ambience. The centrepiece of the cabin is the touchscreen display which can show you telemetry in real time, so you can see exactly where your sphincter tightened in X seconds ago, at Y psi of boost and Z percent throttle.

It’s not perfect, though. The rear seats are a joke, the screen is hard to see in bright light and the 20-inch runflat tyres lend a jittery ride in any suspension mode. But these faults are minor blemishes in the greater scheme of things.
