Judge Jarno holds court
Jarno Trulli judges a contest amongst schoolchildren to construct a model car using only recycled materials
MUCH AS WE hate to apply personality stereotypes to people we meet, especially drivers of cars in excess of 1000bhp/ton, we suppose Toyota driver Jarno Trulli would be the strong silent type.
Either that or he was completely frazzled from what must have been a frenetic week, exacerbated by his body clock going haywire and culminating in a grueling race over the weekend.
He gamely appeared at a meet and greet session and be the judge for Panasonic’s ‘Get me to the race’ car design contest.
Held between September 7 to 21, the contest was open to children aged 7 to 13-years old to design and construct a model car using only recycled materials.
The top five entrants were picked and exhibited at Ion Orchard for a final round of public voting with the winner picked by Jarno.
As it transpired, the winner was 11 year-old self-confessed racing fan Bryan Foo with his papier-mâché replica Formula One racer constructed of old newspapers, bottle caps, steel wire and duct tape.
Judging from Bryan’s stoic expression throughout possibly due to him being media-shy, and who could blame him with bright flashes coming from every direction.
Either that, or he’s the strong silent type as well.
We’re going with the latter. He’d have to be, given Bryan’s just won something that would have all of us jumping for joy.
