Kia Sorento EX (A) $79,999 with COE
Strictly speaking, the Kia Sorento is a class up from the Tucson, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the car is priced not too far from its Hyundai cousin when it arrives some time next year. Like the Tucson, it’s a huge development from the old model in every area and while it’s a little slower and clumsier, it is very, very comfortable indeed.
Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 (A) $76,900 with COE
The SLK, launched in 1997, was the first popular, modern hard-top convertible and carved out a sizeable niche just as the CLS did more recently. In typical Merc fashion, it’s less concerned with Gs pulled on the skidpan and horsepower wars than getting from place to place stylishly and effortlessly. Recently face-lifted with an ‘F1-style’ nose and intakes.
