Audi will debut new R8 sports car and A4 1.4 sedan in Singapore this year

SINGAPORE – The new R8 (please see the above picture) shares its carbon-aluminium hybrid platform with Lamborghini’s Huracán. It also has an almost identical 5.2-litre, naturally-aspirated V10 engine with 533bhp, and in more expensive ‘Plus’ spec, packs 603bhp.

Big Dave tested the car on track this year and found it to be lacking very little. It is expected in Singapore in the early part of 2016.

Trick aero bits, active dampers, all-wheel drive, active steering….the list goes on. But the important question here is which model will come: The last V10 R8 cost nearly a million bucks, and suffice to say buyers were far more willing to shell out that kind of money on more prestigious brands or nameplates.

It wouldn’t be bizarre for Audi to offer the non-Plus model here, to get back to the first V8 R8’s ‘starter supercar’ roots

We tested the new, fifth-generation Audi A4 sedan at its international debut in Venice in late 2015 and found it to be exactly what the doctor ordered.

The A4 runs on a new platform, weighs much less thanks to the extensive use of aluminum and also has a great interior that’s all clean and almost sterile, but packed with tech features.

Singapore will likely get the 1.4-litre, 150bhp offering which looks to be a decent match to the popular 1.5-litre BMW 318i, while the upper-spec offering will likely be a 2.0-litre turbo, likely with a dual-clutch gearbox and quattro AWD

The A4 is also expected to reach our shores in the first quarter of this year.
