BMW’s M 1000 RR S$140k super-superbike has landed in Singapore

The first M-branded BMW motorcycle, the M 1000 RR, is a limited-edition high-performance sportsbike, and it’s here in Singapore
SINGAPORE – BMW’s first M-branded motorcycle, the M 1000 RR, has landed in Singapore. The cost of this limited-edition, very-fast, extra-light performance super bike is approximately S$140k with COE.
We describe the bike in-depth in the story we did at its international announcement. It’s based on the S 1000 RR sportsbike, but the key points are that this is a motorcycle that goes rather extreme into the performance side of things. To use a car analogy, it’s something like what a CS model is to a regular M car.
The engine’s received a going over with forged Mahle pistons, a new combustion chamber design, intake ports, lighter valvetrain, titanium conrods, and full titanium exhaust system (3.7kg weight saving).
Other lovely bits include milled fork clamps, performance rearsets/levers, and Nissin’s M-branded brakes, which are supposed to have been evolved from BMW’s endurance racing programme.
BMW doesn’t market this as a ‘superlight’ but it’s certainly lighter than the S 1000 RR – five kilos less, to be precise. Carbonfibre wheels account for the other 1.3kg of weight saving. If that doesn’t strike you as particularly impressive, consider the S 1000 RR is already quite light, at sub-200kg for a litrebike.
Pretty much everything that can be carbonfibre-d is, with all of the bodywork done. But the M 1000 RR is also the first BMW with winglets – they add up to 13-plus kilos of downforce at 300km/h.
There’s one unit here in Singapore – the one you see here – and it’s going to a lucky owner who will register it for road use, so you might see it on our streets.
