On a sunny Tuesday, a small workshop saw a bustling activity as the team from M-Tek – landed in Singapore to conduct a tuning day for several lucky participants. With over 10 years experience in performance tuning, M-Tek has been researching and developing chip tuning boxes for turbocharged petrol and diesel engines across multiple vehicle brands.

The agenda for the day was simple. To take on the challenges of performance tuning in our hot and humid climate and gather invaluable data to further improve the ECU maps! Held at Gek Lim Motor Pte. Ltd., the experts at M-Tek had the whole Dynapack hub dyno for a day to assess various cars.

Turbocharged cars such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mini Countryman, Audi Q5, A3 and A5 showed up with their owners curious to find out the power gains possible from a ECU Power Kit upgrade.

First, the cars were given a dyno run to establish the actual horsepower figure that it delivers onto the road. Even that was not simple, as some cars refused to produce full power because of their original ECU programming.

With determination, eventually all the cars managed to get rolling along nicely with the dyno! Each car took roughly about an hour to tune, which includes the setup process of removing the wheels for the dyno hook up.

Some cars had pre-installed tuning chips. They were given a dyno to determine the gains that the chips gave them before a base run was conducted, and finally with the M-Tek Power Kit installed!

This event also gave owners an opportunity to check on their car’s performance levels. One owner in particular was unsatisfied with the previous tuning on his car – and was keen to see what could be done to boost the high-end power output. M-Tek’s solution helped to smooth out the erratic high-end power band to deliver a smoother drive for an already tuned engine!

The star of the day was an Audi A5, which was producing 189hp in stock form, and the M-Tek engineers coaxing it’s uber potent power plant to make 235hp at the wheels, all four of them! That’s nearly a 25 percent gain without having to change any of the stock components, a feat, considering that M-Tek’s map was considered to be conservative to prolong the life of the stock components!

As the day roared to an end, the new M-Tek chips were being slotted permanently into the engine bay with owners grinning from ear to ear, clutching dyno sheets of power gain proof To keep that smile permanent, the M-Tek ECU power kits were offered at an irresistible promotional price!
