SINGAPORE –

Here’s Part Two of our Annual New Car roundup where we bring you ever new car coming to Singapore in 2022.

In this part, we cover Citroen to Kia, and the highlights include a new Citroen C4 which is no longer a hatch but also not quite an SUV, then there’s the Ferrari 296 GTB a ‘Dino’ for the modern age. But Kia is looking to bring a showstopper that could gain plenty of eyeballs and win electric-hearts with its stunning-looking and very advanced EV, the EV6

Don’t miss Part 1 of our New Cars of 2022 story – with cars from Alpine, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW and BYD – highlights from there include the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer MPV (above), and Singapore’s first triple-motor EV, the brawny Audi E-Tron S.

Citroen / DS

2022 Citroen C4 - Singapore - CarBuyer.com.sg

What: C4
Variants : 1.2 turbo
When: Now
How Much: From S$120k with COE

The Citroen C4 used to be a key competitor to the Volkswagen Golf and other small Euro hatchbacks, but Citroen has taken another angle (or ten) in order to get a leg-up on the competition. If the swoopy looking front end and contrast fenders don’t clue you in, the third-gen C4 now looks far more like an SUV, though it’s still crossover/coupe-styled.

More information has just come through as the car has undergone homologation in Singapore – it has a 1.2-litre turbo engine with a Cat A friendly 129hp and, impressively, is eligible for a VES A2 S$15,000 rebate. There are two trim levels – Feel and Shine – with the latter being the more expensive version that features additional equipment such as a HUD, wireless charger, and additional active safety systems. Both models have forward collision assist, lane keeping, and driver attention warning as standard.

What: C5 Aircross
Variants: 1.2 current model, 1.2 facelift
When: 1.2 current model now, facelift TBC
How Much: 1.2 S$119,999 with COE

Just announced in January 2022 is a facelifted version of Citroen’s SUV, as you can clearly see from the front end of the car which features the typical nip-tuck measures of updated lights and ‘face’ changes: See how the two lines on the grille now match up with the lights, in contrast to the ‘floating’ single line of the pre-facelift model. The interior will have the updated brand approach with a new infotainment screen (10.0-inches) and new centre console.

Here’s the current 1.6-litre version of the C5 Aircross SUV – see how it fared in our CarBuyer test drive review

The car debuts globally with a 1.2-litre turbo engine and a more powerful PHEV version, but it’s too soon to talk about which versions will come here. Interestingly enough, since the facelift has just been announced it could be up to a year away, but for now, the current C5 Aircross will switch its 1.6-litre turbo four-pot for the newer 1.2-litre turbo engine.

That car is already on sale in Singapore for just under S$120k with COE – read our news story for the full deets and stay tuned for our test drive of it.

2022 Citroen E-Berlingo Singapore - CarBuyer.com.sg

What: Citroen E-Berlingo
Variant: EV
When: March
How Much: Around S$55k without COE, rebates

The E-Van/light vehicle brigade continues to add to its numbers. In 2021, Citroen launched the e-Dispatch large electric van. This year, Citroen will be issuing the electric version of its small van, the Berlingo, to compete with the likes of the Renault Kangoo ZE and BYD T3. It features the increasingly common Stellantis/PSA electric powertrain with a 134hp motor and 50kWh battery pack. There should be long- and short-wheelbase versions. Quoted range is 280km on one charge, and the maximum charge rate is 100kW on a DC Fast Charger which is good enough for the standard 10-80 percent in half an hour.

Ferrari

2022 Ferrari 296 GTB Singapore - CarBuyer.com.sg

What: 296 GTB
When: February
Variant: 296 GTB
How much: S$1.2 million without COE

The first V6 Ferrari in nearly 50 years (if you include the Dino 246 GT, which pedants don’t), the 296 GTB is positioned above the sporty F8 Tributo in terms of price and performance. Though it has a relatively small engine in the form of a twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6, a plug-in hybrid system gives the new Ferrari plenty of brawn. Packing 830hp, it fires off to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds. 0 to 200km/h takes 7.3 seconds.

That’s the stuff of recent supercars, but Ferrari coyly says the 296 GTB is its “most fun” car to drive.

Like the headline-grabbing SF90 (Ferrari’s 1000 horsepower flagship), the 296 GTB is a plug-in hybrid, though its pure electric range is a modest 25km.

It’ll make an appearance here in February to tempt customers, but deliveries will likely start closer to the end of 2022. That’s roughly when Ferrari is expected to give its first SUV, the Purosangue, its global debut. The rumour mill says the four-seater will be a PHEV like the 296 GTB, and share its petrol-electric drivetrain.

Meanwhile, there’s talk of a new mid-engine V12 sportscar to rival the Lamborghini Aventador making its world debut soon, but again, don’t expect to see that in Singapore this year.
