The new Porsche Macan delivers enhanced design and improved performance in a compact SUV package that truly encapsulates Porsche’s sports car DNA

When the Porsche Macan was launched in 2014, it revolutionised the term ‘sports SUV’ by blending its iconic sports car DNA into a usable package – delivering the ultimate in performance and practicality.

The all-new, third-generation Porsche Macan continues that heritage, delivering a sharper design and improved performance to the mix. It also introduces new technologies that enhance user experience, all the while still embodying everything that has made the Macan such a success since its introduction.

A design for the ages

The new Porsche Macan retains its iconic silhouette, with its powerful and dynamic proportions making it instantly recognisable as a Porsche. The sloping roof line gives it a fast, sports car-like contour, while a broad-shouldered rear outline emphasises the car’s strong and imposing presence. 

The front end features LED headlights updated with Porsche’s Dynamic Lighting System (PDLS) as standard, along with a new 3D structural element harmoniously integrated with the air intakes, accentuating the car’s width. On the Macan and Macan S, this is finished in the car’s body colour, while on the Macan GTS, the element is finished in matte black for added sportiness.

The side blades, an iconic feature of the Macan, have also been redesigned with new 3D structure elements; the SportDesign exterior mirrors feature a V-shaped base, and are painted in the car’s body colour to further enhance the Macan’s sporting intent. 

At the back, the rear diffuser has been extended upwards, giving the car a sportier three-dimensional look that is sure to turn heads. There are also seven new wheel designs and larger-sized wheels available as standard.

The Macan GTS turns up the aggression even further with 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels, finished in black, complemented by Porsche Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB) with red brake callipers. The GTS’ overall exterior package is also enhanced with body-coloured front and rear aprons, SportDesign side skirts and a double-wing design roof spoiler finished in black. 

Performance, enhanced

All models of the new Porsche Macan line-up feature new engines, and performance has been improved across the range, further fortifying the car’s position as the ultimate sports SUV.

The Macan gets a newly-developed 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 195 kW and 400Nm of torque, an increase of 15 kW and 30Nm of torque over the previous model. It achieves its 0-100km/h sprint time in 6.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, while its top speed is now 232km/h.

For the first time, the Macan S gets a new 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that produces 280 kW and 520Nm of torque, an increase of 20 kW and 40Nm of torque over the previous Macan S. Its 0-100km/h sprint time is achieved in 4.6 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, while the car is able to reach a top speed of 259km/h.

The third generation Macan sees a new flagship in the range, the Macan GTS. It features a powerful 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that produces 324 kW and 550Nm of torque, a significant increase of 44 kW and 30Nm of torque over the previous Macan GTS. It goes from 0-100km/h in just 4.3 seconds with the standard Sport Chrono package, and its top speed now rated at an impressive 272km/h.

All engines are coupled to a seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK), and maximise handling prowess using their Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system.  

The new Macan models optimise handling performance further with specifically-tuned dampers that balance comfort and sports car performance. The Macan S and Macan GTS also feature Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), making them capable of regulating the damping force of each wheel individually.

The Macan GTS further sets itself apart with a standard sports air suspension system that rides 10mm lower than the Macan S, adding both style and rigidity for increased lateral dynamism. 

Tech-focused and practical interior

The interior of the new Porsche Macan has been updated, and now features a slate of new features that incorporate the latest in technological advancements, enhancing the Macan’s day-to-day practicality and usability.

The Porsche Advanced Cockpit incorporates an instrument cluster with a high-resolution 4.8-inch colour display that showcases vital driver information with maximum clarity. The experience is enhanced by a new multifunction GT sports steering wheel from the 911 and Panamera that incorporates a new mode switch in combination with the Sport Chrono package. 

The centre console is all new, and employs haptic touch surfaces rather than tactile buttons for a more high-tech approach to operation. A new 10.9-inch full-HD touchscreen display is also home to the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, which comes standard with online navigation functionalities, as well as Apple CarPlay® including Siri® voice control.

The Macan also comes with Porsche Connect Plus, which pairs with the Porsche Connect App and Porsche Car Connect App for unparalleled connectivity. With Connect Plus, the Macan offers the ability to access a wide range of Porsche Connect services, through the convenience of one’s own mobile device.

The Macan and Macan S features Sport-Tex seat centres that enhance driver comfort, while the Macan GTS offers a GTS leather package in Black that incorporates Race-Tex on the front and rear seat centres, front and rear door armrests, and centre console armrests.

Finally, inspiring touches such as the analogue clock in the centre console and optional BOSE® Surround Sound System elevate the overall experience in the Macan’s interior.
