Local Hyundai distributor Komoco Motors has teamed up with Shell to offer contactless test drives of Hyundai EVs at Shell petrol stations

SINGAPORE

Local Hyundai distributor Komoco Motors has introduced a new initiative in collaboration with Shell, which will see Komoco offering contactless test drives of Hyundai electric vehicles (EVs) that can be picked up and dropped off at Shell petrol stations.

Dubbed Hyundai Electric Motion, the initiative allows drivers to book a 60 minute unaccompanied test drive of a Hyundai EV, without a sales representative present. Komoco says that the service is meant to let Singaporeans have the opportunity to experience EV motoring with greater convenience, while the contactless test drive format also allows for safe distancing and peace of mind in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

For now, the initiative will start with one car, a Hyundai Ioniq Electric (above), at Shell’s Paya Lebar MacPherson station, and will run from 5 to 18 August. Komoco says though that it intends to roll out more cars at more Shell stations over the coming months.

Interested users can visit electric-motion.hyundai.com.sg, select their preferred location (albeit just the one for now), date and time, and preferred test drive model, subject to availability. Slots are allocated on a first come first served basis, and the video below offers a step-by-step guide on how the process works.

To ensure safety and cleanliness for users, Komoco has equipped in each test drive vehicle a sanitiser that releases a safe and odourless dry vapour every 20 seconds to kill microbes in the air and on all surfaces. In addition, each booking schedule is separated by a 60 minute interval to ensure there’s plenty of time for the car to be cleaned and sanitised after every test drive, and to minimise human contact between test drives.
