Porsche has introduced the Macan T for Singapore, which features lowered suspension and handling tweaks; priced at S$267,888 without COE

Porsche has unveiled the Macan T, a tweaked version of its popular SUV that places emphasis on sharpened handling and driving dynamics. It marks the first time that the T moniker, which stands for Touring, has been applied on a four-door Porsche model, having previously been featured on the 911 and 718 sports cars.

The Macan T features the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine taken from the entry-level Macan 2.0 model, which produces 265hp and 400Nm of torque, and is matched to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. Porsche says that this particular engine is some 59kg lighter than the 2.9-litre biturbo V6 unit found in the Macan S and GTS models, thus allowing the Macan T to go from 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds, and reach a top speed of 232km/h when equipped with the Sports Chrono package.

In addition, the Macan T is the only Porsche to come with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as standard. The car is lowered by 15mm as a result, and the front anti-roll bars have also been stiffened to give the car better agility when cornering.

The Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system in the Macan T has been specially tweaked to offer more rear-wheel bias, and the car can also be specced with adaptive suspension as an option, which lowers the car by a further 10mm. Customers can also add on the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system, which sharpens the car’s handling further.

The Macan T is distinguished by the other Macan models externally via a few styling details, such as the Agate Grey Metallic design elements on the lower front trim, door mirrors, side blades and rear spoiler. The tailpipes and window trims meanwhile are finished in high gloss black, and 20-inch dark titanium alloy wheels come as standard, while there is also a choice of 13 exterior body colours to choose from.

Inside, the Macan T features its own unique black leather upholstery, with a special stripe pattern running down the centre of the front and rear seats, as well as the Porsche logo embossed on the headrests. Contrast silver stitching is also found on the seats and steering wheel, while a heated sports GT steering wheel and the Sports Chrono stopwatch atop the dashboard comes as standard.

The Macan T retails for S$267,888, excluding COE, which places it in between the base Macan and the Macan S in the lineup. Porsche’s best-seller has only been recently facelifted last year, and that particular update brought with it a whole host of upgrades that are also reflected in the Macan T, including the 10.9-inch central touchscreen that incorporates the revised Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system.
